Samsung has taken a revolutionary step for its smart TVs by announcing the Samsung TV Google Photos app. This historic collaboration will allow users to view their personal photo and video archives directly on their television’s large screen for the first time. This development is a first in the industry, as even Google’s own Android TV platform doesn’t yet have a native app.
When Does the Samsung TV Google Photos Era Begin?
The arrival of the Google Photos app on Samsung smart TVs will be a gradual process. According to the company’s statement, new features will be offered to users in three different phases starting in early 2026. The first step will be the “Memories” feature, which will be available exclusively on select Samsung TV models in March. This feature will bring to the screen collections of stories tailored to people, locations, and meaningful moments.

However, the innovations will not be limited to the “Memories” feature. Samsung TV users will also have access to the “Create with AI” feature later in 2026. This tool will offer themed templates for AI-powered editing of existing photos and will encourage creativity by bringing the popular “Remix” tool directly to the big screen.
The third and final phase of integration will be “Personalized Results.” Planned for release towards the end of 2026, this feature will further personalize the user experience by offering carefully curated slideshows based on specific themes or special memories.
Samsung also confirmed it will integrate Google Photos with its own Vision AI Companion (VAC) system. This integration will allow users to interact with their photos more intuitively through voice commands or an AI-powered assistant.
