Google has given the first official confirmation that the next mid-range Pixel 8a is in development. The latest Android update for Pixel devices has confirmed the Pixel 8a, along with battery details.
Google Pixel 8a will be the first device to show battery stats
In the Android 14 QPR1 update, Google announced that it would show information such as the number of charge cycles and the date of manufacture of the battery. The expanded battery statistics for Android disappeared without explanation in the March 2024 update.
In response to questions about the disappearance of battery stats, Google said that this page will be available for new models. So battery stats will only be supported on the Pixel 8a and other Pixel devices.
The reason for the temporary appearance of the statistics on Pixel models on sale remains unclear. However, Google plans to expand the battery health information. Specifically, the page will be enabled for Pixel 8a and later devices, the company said.
This also marked Google’s first official confirmation that the Pixel 8a is in development. The mid-range Pixel is expected to be unveiled at Google I/O in May and launched in the next few months.
According to the report, the Pixel 8a will come in two storage variants, 128GB and 256GB. The price of the 128GB model is said to be 570 euros and the 256GB version will be 630 dollars. To remind you, the Pixel 7a 128GB configuration was released at 499 euros.
