Google has released the Android security update package for September 2023. The software giant has fixed a total of 33 vulnerabilities, including a zero-day that was actively exploited by hackers.

The critical zero-day bug, tracked by CVE-2023-35674, allowed attackers to gain privileges on the device without requiring any permission or user interaction. The privilege, which is executed through Android’s core code, could put your information and accounts at risk.
Google said in a statement about the September package that there are indications that certain users may be under exploit with CVE-2023-35674. It therefore urged Android users to update their devices as soon as possible.
In a recent survey, Android users were asked if the introduction of the USB-C port would persuade them to switch to the iPhone 15.
In addition to the Zero-day vulnerability, the September update fixes three critical remote code execution bugs in Android. It also fixes a critical bug in 5G modems on Qualcomm Snapdragon processors.
If any of these vulnerabilities were exploited by hackers, they could allow attackers to remotely run malicious code on the device. This means they can gain access to the device without your permission.
Google has released two security packages for September 2023. Currently, the updates are rolling out for Android 11, 12 and 13. Depending on the brand of your phone, you may be able to download them soon. However, users with Android 10 or older are advised to install a custom ROM or upgrade their Android.
