Google Faces Backlash for Pixel Watch Repair Policy

According to new complaints from Pixel Watch customers, Google does not provide replacement parts or repair services for smartwatches with broken screens. Company representatives recommend replacing the entire watch, even under warranty.

Google’s warranty usually does not cover accidental damage. This has frustrated some customers. The Pixel Watch’s lack of support for the company’s “Preferred Care” extended protection plan has caused even bigger problems.

iFixit, which has repair partnerships with big companies, disassembled the Pixel Watch after controversy. Despite Google’s claims that the design is too complex, it revealed that it is possible to repair the glass.

But without official parts or Google support, it seems quite difficult for customers to replace the glass. Users have stated that if the Pixel Watch’s screen breaks, they will have to buy a new one. This could affect sales at a time when Google is trying to grow in the wearable market.

The Pixel Watch 2 is expected to be unveiled on October 4 alongside the Pixel 8 series. Earlier leaks showed that Google is evaluating the watch with four different bands. These bands included plastic, metal mesh, metal and a new thin metal.
