Google, in a statement that has generated excitement in the tech world, announced that it will launch two different AI-powered smart glasses in 2026. This new move by the tech giant aims to elevate competition in the wearable technology market to a whole new level.
Competing with Meta and Apple: Google’s new AI glasses announced
The first model is designed to offer users a screenless assistant experience. Featuring built-in speakers, microphones, and cameras, this device will allow users to interact with Google Gemini using voice commands. Users will be able to take photos using the cameras and ask the AI questions about their surroundings to receive real-time answers.

The second model retains all the AI capabilities of the first model, but also features an in-lens display technology. Through this display, users will be able to see turn-by-turn navigation directions or live translated captions of conversations directly on the glasses. Both models will draw processing power from the paired smartphone and run on Google’s wearable device platform, Android XR.
Google is strategically partnering with tech giant Samsung on this project. The company is collaborating with renowned eyewear manufacturers like Warby Parker and Gentle Monster on design and aesthetics. The company promises that the upcoming glasses will be lightweight, stylish, and comfortable enough to wear comfortably all day long.
These new products will directly compete with the smart glasses Meta has produced in collaboration with Ray-Ban and the products rumored to be developed by Apple. Industry rumors suggest that Apple could also introduce its first AI-powered glasses as soon as 2026. With Google’s move, the smart glasses wars are already heating up.
So, what are your thoughts on the future of smart glasses? Would you like to use AI-powered glasses that could replace your phone in your daily life? We look forward to your comments.
