Corning has introduced its latest protection technology for smart devices: Gorilla Glass Ceramic. According to the company’s announcement, this new glass offers significantly more durable protection against drops compared to previous solutions.
Gorilla Glass Ceramic officially introduced
In laboratory tests, Corning states that Gorilla Glass Ceramic remained unbroken even after being dropped from a height of one meter onto rough surfaces like asphalt ten times in a row. As the name suggests, the new glass is reinforced with ceramic materials to enhance its durability.

Compared to Corning’s previous release, Victus 2, Gorilla Glass Ceramic provides superior durability even under harsher conditions. While Victus 2 performs well on smoother surfaces, Gorilla Glass Ceramic maintains its strength even on rough and hard surfaces.
This new product is not just a technological advancement but also a continuation of the protection trend in smart devices. Corning previously developed Ceramic Shield for Apple and launched Gorilla Armor 2 for Samsung’s Galaxy S25 series.
Similarly, other manufacturers are also working on ceramic-based protection technologies. For instance, the HONOR Magic 7 Pro features a technology called NanoCrystal Shield.
Corning has announced that Gorilla Glass Ceramic will be used in a Motorola device in the coming months. However, it is still unclear whether this device will be a smartphone or a tablet.
