Europe is shaken by a new hacking attempt. Personal data stolen from the British Library in a cyber attack last month has been put up for sale. The information stolen by the ransomware group Rhysida leaked from the UK’s national library in October.

A statement shared by Rhysida this week revealed a detailed report from the British Library. Hackers published employees’ personal data online, including employment contracts and passport details. It was reported that all the information will be auctioned and will start at 20 Bitcoin.

After the data surfaced, the British Library confirmed that it was aware that some information had been leaked. However, it did not confirm that Rhysida was behind the attack or that the data published online originated from the library.

The cyber attack in October resulted in the library’s website and services being disabled. An ongoing investigation with the police and the National Cyber Security Center has indicated that the outage could last for months.

Users were also advised to change all login details used on other sites as a precaution. However, it was emphasized that user data was not leaked and that the services linked to the British Library were safe.
