As the gaming world continues to wait with excitement, rumors surrounding the Half-Life 3 announcement are growing stronger. Insider Gaming Senior Editor Mike Straw, a trusted industry source, has claimed that Valve will officially unveil this iconic game before the end of 2025. This new information is considered a promising development for series fans.
Half-Life 3 announcement date is approaching
Mike Straw made striking revelations on the latest episode of the Insider Gaming Weekly podcast. The veteran editor believes the highly anticipated game will be unveiled in the coming weeks. According to Straw, Valve will make another major move immediately following the mid-November unveiling of its new Steam Machine. This move is expected to be the long-awaited sequel.

The company may be using a method called “canary bait” to conceal the game’s exact release date. Mike Straw stated that he was given a specific date by a source, but he has yet to confirm it. Valve may be giving different dates to different people to identify leakers. The company used a similar tactic in 2019 just before the release of Half-Life: Alyx.
The Game Awards, one of the biggest events in the gaming world, will take place on December 11th. However, Mike Straw doesn’t expect the game to premiere at the event. Valve generally prefers to make its own announcements independently. If the game is unveiled before the event, a trailer could be shown at the ceremony. However, an announcement made directly at the ceremony would be contrary to industry norms, as it could overshadow other publishers’ announcements.
Google Trends data shows that player interest in the series has skyrocketed. Searches for “Half-Life 3” have reached their highest level since 2008. This trend, which began in August 2024 when data miner GabeFollower discovered traces of the project in Valve’s code, peaked in November 2025. The increase in Wikipedia page views also confirms this intense interest.
