The 2022 hit Hogwarts Legacy may be getting ready to return with a new production. Avalanche Software has posted several new job openings, indicating that the developer is working on a sequel to the open-world RPG.
Job openings for Hogwarts Legacy 2
In recent postings, Avalanche is looking for engineers with experience in live-action games and operations phases. This suggests that Hogwarts Legacy 2 may include live-service elements when it is released. This is very much in line with the model Warner Bros. has been running in games in recent years.
Additionally, some sources have claimed that Hogwarts Legacy 2 has been given the green light for a September release next year. Avalanche Software’s several job postings in early 2024 also indicate that it is working on a sequel to the Harry Potter game.
Avalanche, a one-project studio with about 250 employees, seems to devote all its investments to Hogwarts Legacy 2. Therefore, it is unlikely to work on any other project other than the Harry Potter game.
Considering the development process of big budget games, it seems unlikely that the game will be released before 2025. This means that in addition to PC, we might see it on next-gen consoles like PS5 and PS6.
The game, in which we play a student studying at a school of Witchcraft and Wizardry, has been praised for its graphics and open world. Avalanche Software has sold more than 15 million copies of Hogwarts worldwide, generating over $1 billion in revenue.
