The luxury electric sedan Maextro S800, jointly developed by Huawei and JAC Motors, has made a rapid start in the Chinese automobile market. The vehicle, which has collected 3,600 orders in the first seven days alone, will compete directly with upper-segment models such as the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class with a starting price of $98,500.

In the first 24 hours after the launch of Maextro S800, 1,600 orders were recorded. Moreover, 70 percent of these orders were for the top-end equipment level, which costs $141,600. The pace of orders has slowed down somewhat in the following days, but expectations on the manufacturer’s side are still high. Huawei and JAC are targeting an annual revenue of 100 billion yuan with a monthly sales plan of 8,300 units on average.

The vehicle is offered to the market with both fully electric and series hybrid engine options. In terms of interior design, there are a total of six different configurations with four and five-person layout alternatives. The equipment offered in the vehicle starting from the entry level is remarkable:
Adaptive suspension, four-wheel steering system, autonomous driving infrastructure with four lidar sensors, wood and leather combination interior upholstery, four-zone automatic air conditioning and high-quality sound system with 43 speakers are among these equipment.
The fully electric variant has a dual-motor system with 390 kW (523 horsepower). This version offers a range of 702 kilometers according to CLTC measurements with its 95 kWh capacity battery. Compared to other models in the electric luxury segment, the Maextro S800; It is more expensive than BYD’s YangWang U7 model, but stands out as a more affordable option compared to Nio’s ET9 model.
The division of tasks in the production process of the vehicle is clearly separated. JAC is responsible for the development and production of the modular platform. Huawei provides autonomous driving systems, software infrastructure and other basic electronic components.
