Official images of the H5 SUV, the first model of Shangjie, the new brand under HIMA, a joint venture between Huawei and Chinese automotive giant SAIC, have been released. Priced between 150,000 and 250,000 yuan (approximately $20,700-$34,500), the H5 is positioned as the fifth automotive brand under HIMA. The model’s official launch in China is scheduled for this fall.
Here is the Shangjie H5, developed in partnership with Huawei and SAIC
Shangjie is positioned as the most accessible brand on the HIMA platform. The four previously introduced brands include Aito (Seres), Luxeed (Chery), Stelato (BAIC), and Maextro (JAC). This new brand is specifically targeting the broader segment with a budget under 200,000 yuan (approximately $27,900).

According to SAIC, this price range is the segment with the most intense competition and the largest user base in the Chinese automotive market. According to 2024 data, 70% of passenger cars sold in China were priced below 200,000 yuan. Models the Shangjie H5 will directly compete with include the BYD Song Plus series, the Leapmotor C11, the Deepal S07, and the Xpeng G6.
According to official images, the H5 stands out with its closed grille design, slim LED headlights, a trapezoidal lower grille, a LIDAR sensor on the roof, a chrome-framed glass structure, and integrated taillights. The vehicle opts for traditional door handles, rather than the recently popular hidden door handles. Two different wheel designs are available: five-spoke and multi-spoke.
The driver assistance systems are based on the Qiankun ADS 4.0 platform developed by Huawei. There are four different versions of this system, the highest-end Ultra trim, capable of Level 3 autonomous driving on highways.
While official interior images haven’t been released yet, the vehicle will feature Huawei’s HarmonyOS-based smart cockpit system as standard. This system supports features such as multi-screen interaction and an AI-powered voice assistant.
Technical details regarding the powertrain have not yet been released. However, technical information is expected to be released shortly following the official images. The launch of HIMA’s first model, the Shangjie H5, will be a significant step toward testing the brand’s competitiveness in the affordable segment. Initial production investment has been confirmed to be around 6 billion yuan (approximately $837 million).
