The highly anticipated Humane AI Pin, touted as the new technology of the future, made a disappointing announcement for eager customers today. The company’s Media Chief, Sam Sheffer, announced the postponement of deliveries. Here are the details of the news…
Humane AI Pin deliveries postponed to April
First-generation products from newly established companies often face challenges, regardless of the acclaim and funds they gather. Hence, it wasn’t entirely surprising when Humane AI Pin, a startup based in the Bay Area, announced a postponement from March to “mid-April.”
The company’s Media Chief, Sam Sheffer, stated that the initial units would “start coming out of the factory by the end of March.” If Humane sticks to this timeline, “priority access” customers will begin receiving their units by mid-April, with the remaining pre-orders following “shortly after.”
Why did Humane AI Pin become popular?
Humane garnered significant interest in the tech world even before unveiling its first product, thanks to its time at Apple and appropriately mysterious pre-launch videos. The Ai Pin was finally introduced at an event in San Francisco in early November, giving us the opportunity to get acquainted with this wearable technology.
The device emerges as perhaps the first prominent example of a growing trend in consumer hardware, as more startup companies endeavor to harness the productive world of artificial intelligence for new form factors. Of course, this will also be the “year of the AI smartphone,” leveraging platforms like GPT models.
The company has raised approximately $230 million so far, including last year’s $100 million Series C. There are many reasons why a product might be postponed until it’s consumer-ready.
Early adopters are somewhat accustomed to first-gen glitches, but of course, everyone’s patience has its limits. At least, for a company producing such a product, being in the right place at the right time is often crucial.
The Humane AI Pin is currently available for pre-order at $699. We’ve made the purchase and will share the unboxing and experiences with you when it arrives. What are your thoughts on this new technology? You can share your opinions in the comments section below.
