Hyundai has introduced the fully electric version of its popular SUV model in India, the Creta. The Hyundai Creta Electric offers a zero-emission driving experience and features subtle design changes that distinguish it from the internal combustion engine (ICE) versions. Here are the details revealed about the vehicle…
Hyundai Creta to offer two battery options and a 470 km range
The Creta Electric comes with two battery options: 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh, offering ranges of 390 km and 470 km, respectively. Hyundai noted that these figures are measured according to India’s ARAI protocols. The electric SUV can charge from 10% to 80% in just 58 minutes using a DC fast charger. With a standard 11 kW AC wallbox, a full charge takes approximately 4 hours.
In terms of performance, the Creta Electric accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.9 seconds, making it faster than models like the Creta N Line. While detailed specs of the electric motor have not been disclosed yet, it’s believed to feature a single electric motor powering the front wheels.
The design highlights several features that emphasize the electric variant’s uniqueness. The front includes a pixel-patterned closed grille and a lower bumper with active aero flaps. At the rear, there’s an aluminum-look skid plate and pixel-patterned details. While the vehicle’s profile mirrors its ICE counterpart, 17-inch aero-optimized wheels and an exclusive ocean blue metallic color option make it stand out.
The Creta Electric is expected to compete with popular electric SUVs in India, such as the Suzuki eVitara, Mahindra BE 6, and Tata Curvv EV. The vehicle will be officially unveiled at the Bharat Mobility Show on January 17. However, it remains unclear whether Hyundai plans to launch this model outside India.
