Marathon, one of the iconic series of the 1990s, came to Windows after years. The game series developed by Bungie was released on Steam. Marathon Infinity is now available for free on Steam.
Marathon Infinity launches for free on Steam
Marathon Infinity is currently available for free on Steam. Bungie previously released Classic Marathon in May and Classic Marathon 2 in July. The latest installment completes the series on Steam.
Like its predecessors, Marathon Infinity was adapted for modern PCs using the open-source Aleph One engine. In this context, widescreen support, improved rendering, positional audio and 60 FPS support were added to the game.
For those who don’t know, in the Marathon series, players take on the role of a security guard fighting Durandal among ancient ruins. Using advanced weapons and tactics, they try to unravel the plans of a lost civilization.
While the trilogy was a big hit in the gaming world, it was very important for Bungie. The studio, known as the developer of the Halo series, gained a lot of experience with this game. The fact that the games are available for free on Steam makes them appealing to a new generation of players.
The Marathon series will expand with a new game after many years. However, the new game developed by Bungie will be released for PlayStation 5 instead of continuing on PC.
