As you know, Apple also produces the SE series, which has affordable and more modest features than the basic iPhone series. Apple, which reaches users at certain intervals even if it does not release it every year, continues to maintain this series because it is in good demand from users. In this context, Apple is preparing to launch the iPhone SE 4 model in the near future.
Of course, as this date approaches, the questions in the head increase and the possibility of finding answers to these questions increases. In this direction, there was an important development today and the winner of the device’s screen manufacturer race was announced.
Samsung dropped out of the race in the iPhone SE 4 screen race
According to recent reports, BOE will supply most, if not all, of the 6.1-inch OLED panels for the upcoming iPhone SE 4. Samsung has reportedly dropped out of the race due to the low pricing Apple is offering for each panel.
The report claims that a single 6.1-inch OLED unit is selling for around $30 at Samsung, while Apple is offering $25. Moreover, the same source claims that the price is even lower than what Chinese manufacturers are demanding.
With Samsung out of the picture, that leaves BOE and Tianma as competitors. However, BOE will probably receive all orders for the iPhone SE 4. People familiar with the matter say Samsung wasn’t the only one initially invested in the deal due to low margins, which is why Samsung ended negotiations after Apple asked for an even lower price per unit.
According to the claims put forward by various sources so far, the iPhone SE 4 model will be similar to the iPhone 14 released in 2022. Accordingly, the smartphone will feature a 6.1-inch OLED display. Supported by a 60 Hz refresh rate, this screen will also include Dynamic Island technology, which entered our lives with the iPhone 14 Pro series.
