Insta360 announced its newest model X5 in the 360-degree camera market. Available for sale with a price tag of $549.99, the device offers significant improvements compared to the previous model of the series, the X4. The X5, which attracts attention especially with its increased performance in night shooting and interchangeable lens system, appeals to action and 360-degree video enthusiasts.

The device uses dual 1/1.28-inch large sensors. Since these sensors have more light collection capacity compared to the X4, they give clearer results in both day and night shots. The AI chip system, on the other hand, creates uncompressed and clean images in all lighting conditions.

Another prominent innovation of the X5 was the ‘InstaFrame’ feature. This feature allows producing selfie or front camera-focused videos in flat format from 360-degree images. Thus, content producers can both quickly share content for social media and edit raw 360-degree images in detail later.
Insta360 describes the X5 as ‘the most durable 360-degree camera’ they have ever produced. The device’s lenses are protected by scratch-resistant glass and can be replaced without tools. The body is water resistant to 15 metres (49 ft). There is also a built-in wind filter to improve sound quality in windy environments.
The camera’s battery is announced as 2,400 mAh. This provides up to 3 hours of continuous recording when the endurance mode is active. The device can be charged up to 80 per cent in 20 minutes.
X5 records to microSD cards and can connect via USB-C, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.2. The app of the device, which works compatible with different Bluetooth headsets, supports both iOS and Android platforms.
Insta360 X5 appeals to a wide range of users, from content producers to diving enthusiasts. So what do you think about this product? You can share your opinions with us in the comments section below.
