The integration between Instagram and WhatsApp is growing. The social media giant will allow Instagram Stories to be shared directly on WhatsApp thanks to a new sharing feature. This will increase users’ connectivity between the apps.
Instagram and WhatsApp get cross-sharing support
According to screenshots shared on social media, Instagram is preparing to integrate WhatsApp as well as Facebook as a cross-sharing option. Currently, Instagram users can share their stories on Facebook, but there is no support for sharing on WhatsApp.
WhatsApp’s inclusion of cross-sharing will allow sharing directly to the messaging app. These posts are expected to be seen in the WhatsApp Statuses section. Of course, it should be reminded that these will disappear within 24 hours.
Instagram Stories can currently be shared directly to Facebook with the “Share on Facebook” option. This means that users do not need to go to Facebook to add Stories. With the “Share on WhatsApp” button, the messaging service can be included.
However, not all features available on Instagram are available on WhatsApp. This means that some elements, such as interactive stickers, may not be possible to display on WhatsApp. This could create some formatting and functionality issues.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg previously said that WhatsApp has more than 500 million monthly active users on the Channels platform. With Instagram integration, this number could increase even more. However, cross-sharing support is still in development. Since it is not generally available, it is necessary to wait a while longer.
