Meta is working on a new feature to block nudity and unwanted DMs. According to the company, the new “Nudity Protection” filter aims to help shield people from nude images or other unsolicited messages. However, this technology won’t allow Instagram to see private messages. Here are the details about Instagram’s Nudity Protection filter.
Nudity Protection filter lets you choose to view or not
With the growing social media usage, people get in touch via Instagram and other platforms. However, some users face unwanted messages and content like nudity exposure in Direct Messages. According to a researcher’s post on Twitter, Instagram is working on nudity protection for chats. This filter will let users choose the options to view the content or not.
A spokesperson from Instagram says, “We’re working closely with experts to ensure these new features preserve people’s privacy while giving them control over the messages they receive.” Meta is planning to filter abusive messages in DM requests based on keywords related to nudity. When the system detects a keyword, it will be automatically placed in a hidden folder. Of course, there will be an option if you want to open it.
The company points out that this technology would not give the platform access to private messages. It won’t also share the messages with the platform or anyone else. According to Meta, the new filter and tools are still being developed and aren’t yet tested.
This technology will be a significant step for Instagram’s users’ privacy. The company wants to keep its younger users safe on its social media platforms. Meta launches some safety features like this one sometime. What do you think about Instagram’s Nudity Protection filter?
