Intel has confirmed the existence of the BMG-G31 graphics processor, codenamed “Big Battlemage,” which is expected to be the flagship mid-range desktop model in the Arc series, through its official software.
New development for Big Battlemage
The latest update to VTune Profiler, the company’s performance analysis tool, reveals that it has added support for the “Intel Arc Battlemage (BMG-G31)” and “Intel Core Ultra 3 Processors (Panther Lake)” in both Windows and Linux. This development provides the clearest signal yet that the launch of the powerful graphics card, expected to be released as the Arc B770, is nearing.

The BMG-G31 represents the larger desktop version of the smaller BMG-G21 variant, which powers the mainstream Intel Arc B580 and Arc B570 models. Intel has not yet officially announced or confirmed the Arc B770, but the addition of software support suggests the card is in the works.
The BMG-G31, the flagship desktop variant of the Battlemage architecture, will feature up to thirty-two Xe2 cores and 16GB of GDDR6 memory running on a 256-bit bus. Rumors suggest this chip will be available in four different SKUs.
In terms of performance, the Intel Arc B770 is expected to slot between the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 and the next-generation GeForce RTX 5070. Compared to first-generation Arc products, the Battlemage architecture represents a significant leap forward, particularly seen with the Arc B580, offering an attractive alternative to NVIDIA and AMD.
However, the launch of a new GPU with sixteen GB of VRAM amidst the current DRAM (memory) shortage presents a noteworthy timing considering market conditions.
The CES 2026 trade show is considered the most likely time for the official launch of the new graphics card. Neither NVIDIA nor AMD is expected to launch any new GPU products aimed at consumers or PC gamers at the show, creating a perfect opportunity for the Intel Arc B770 to be officially unveiled and attract attention.
