Intel unveiled Core Ultra processors for mobile at an event the other day. Built on the Meteor Lake architecture, these models are the first processors not named Core “i”. So what do Intel Core Ultra 9, 7, 5 models promise?
What does Intel Core Ultra 9, 7, 5 offer?
The Core Ultra mobile processor family is finally here. The lineup includes H- and U-series processors targeting high-performance and low-power laptops. First of all, there are four H-series and four U-series models.
It is noteworthy that Intel has merged its previously used P series with the H series. The U series continues to target lighter laptops. All new Core Ultra processors use Redwood Cove P and Crestmont E cores.
The H-series Core Ultra chips will come with Intel’s new Arc GPU, which supports features such as DX12 Ultimate. Intel claimed the graphics are twice as fast compared to the 13th Gen Core i7-1370P.
Intel also focused on artificial intelligence features in the Core Ultra architecture. Accordingly, the new processors feature discrete NPU AI memories. These memories, which will operate independently of the CPU and GPU, can deliver up to 34 TeraOPS performance.

The most powerful model of the family, Intel Core Ultra 9 185H, reaches a turbo frequency of 5.1GHz. The processor has a 16-core architecture and features an Intel Arc GPU running at 2.35 GHz. Another powerful model is the Core Ultra 7 165H. The processor, which includes cores running at a maximum clock speed of 5 GHz, also comes with 16 cores.

Intel claimed significant gains in both performance and efficiency compared to previous generations. For example, the new design of the Core Ultra 7 165H uses 25 percent less power than the Core i7-1370P on Netflix. It also outperforms the AMD Ryzen 7 7840U by around 11 percent.
All these processors are expected to hit shelves in 2024.
