Apple has finally released the long-awaited iOS 18.3 update to users. With the update, the Apple Intelligence feature is enabled by default, while notification summaries created by artificial intelligence will now appear with a clearer label. Details are in our news…
Apple released iOS 18.3 update: Apple Intelligence feature will now be the default
In fact, the changes were prompted by criticism that the notification summaries introduced in iOS 18.1 were spreading misinformation. For example, in a previous news digest, a CEO was alleged to have ‘committed suicide’ by distorting the incident in which he was murdered. Similarly, inaccurate information about famous athletes has also come to the fore.

To address these issues, Apple temporarily stopped notification summaries in iOS 18.3 beta. It has now reintroduced this feature with clearer labelling. With the new version, notification summaries are now presented in italic font and with the phrase ‘Summarised by Apple Intelligence’ below.
In addition, artificial intelligence features are now activated by default. Users can still go to Settings > Apple Intelligence and Siri tab to disable this feature. Other innovations in iOS 18.3 include the development of visual intelligence technology.
The new technology can now add events from banners or posters to the calendar and more accurately identify plant or animal species. Minor bug fixes are also available with this release. You can visit Settings > General > Software Update tab to install the update.
