At WWDC 2024, Apple unveiled iPadOS 18, the next version of its operating system. With this update, iPad models will make more use of their large screens. In this context, it will make the tablet experience more versatile. But interestingly, Apple will offer a calculator app for iPad for the first time in 14 years.
Advanced calculator app introduced with iPadOS 18
iPadOS 18 has many new features. The most notable is the new Calculator app designed specifically for iPad. Although technological devices today have a native calculator, iPad users did not have this application.
Of course, it should be reminded that there are many applications on the App Store. However, the new Calculator app in iPadOS 18 will offer both a basic and scientific view. On the other hand, users will be able to write math equations on the calculator and solve math questions with handwriting recognition.
iPadOS 18 also improves the tablet’s handwriting capabilities. The new “Smart Script” function will allow users to add spaces and cross out lines with their own handwriting style. Handwritten notes will be as editable as if they were written on a keyboard.
At the same time, texts written in iPadOS 18 can be divided into sections for greater effectiveness and support different formatting options.
The 2nd generation iPad, 2nd generation 12.9-inch iPad Pro, and 1st generation 10.5 iPad Pro will not receive the iPadOS 18 update. The new version will be available for iPad 2019 and later, iPad mini 2019 and later, iPad Air 2019 and later, and iPad Pro 2018 and later.
