Apple introduced the iPhone 16e on February 20th, which is priced at 47,999 TRY in Turkey. However, this model comes without some important hardware features. MagSafe wireless charging, Ultra Wideband (UWB), and Thread connectivity are not available on the iPhone 16e. But this isn’t just because of the lower price. Here are the details…
Apple’s iPhone 16e lacks MagSafe, UWB, and Thread support!
Firstly, the absence of MagSafe technology means that the iPhone 16e will not be part of Apple’s magnetic wireless charging ecosystem. Users will not be able to use MagSafe-supported accessories and chargers with this model, which is considered a significant shortcoming compared to other iPhone models released in recent years.

Moreover, the device does not support UWB (Ultra Wideband) either. UWB is a wireless communication technology that enables precise location tracking between devices. Apple uses this technology in features like AirTag, HomePod mini, and fast device connections. However, iPhone 16e owners will not be able to benefit from location tracking or fast connection features with UWB-supported accessories.
Another missing feature is Thread technology. Thread is a smart home connectivity protocol developed as an alternative to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, designed to work with low power consumption. While Apple offers this technology in the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and 16 series, the iPhone 16e stands out as the only model without it. The lack of Thread support limits the integration of the 16e with smart home systems.
As you know, Apple usually cuts some features in its lower-priced iPhone models. Analysts believe this is to increase interest in the premium models. Therefore, the lack of these hardware features in the iPhone 16e is considered part of the company’s strategy to encourage consumers to opt for more expensive models.
Do you think it makes sense for Apple to remove these features in the 16e? How much will it affect the user experience? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section below…
