Apple may offer 8K video recording support for the first time on the iPhone 17 Pro models. According to information received from reliable sources; the 48 MP resolution periscope telephoto sensor to be used in the brand’s new devices will eliminate the technical obstacles to 8K video recording. This development has found great resonance in the industry.
The iPhone 17 Pro series comes with 8K video support
The current iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models can offer 120 fps video recording at a maximum resolution of 4K. Since the telephoto sensor used in the iPhone 16 series has a resolution of 12 MP, 8K video recording was not possible.
Apple will overcome this limitation by increasing the resolution of the telephoto sensor to 48 MP on the iPhone 17 Pro. The new telephoto sensor will allow recording at higher resolution and will offer iPhone users the opportunity to record 8K video.

Models such as the Galaxy S25 Ultra and Pixel 9 Pro currently support 8K video recording in the Android ecosystem. However, Apple will set a new standard in 8K video recording with its expertise in camera software and image processing technologies.
8K recording provides a great advantage for professional content producers, especially during video editing, by offering more cropping and detail opportunities. Apple has not yet announced the launch date of the iPhone 17 Pro series.
