Following the iPhone 16e, which replaced the iPhone SE series, claims that Apple will take this new model into the annual update cycle have gained strength. According to the latest information, work for the iPhone 17e is progressing rapidly and test production will soon begin.
iPhone 17e model will appear
Using the SE name in the past, Apple did not follow a specific update schedule in this model series. The first SE model released in 2016 was followed by the second generation four years later and the third generation in 2022.

However, the switch to a numbered designation with the iPhone 16e showed that the company is now moving towards regular updates. With this development, we expect the iPhone 17e to be available next year.
Apple will start trial production of the device soon. At this stage, Foxconn is producing a limited number of devices by setting up a small-scale version of the production line. The aim here will be to identify potential problems in the production process and optimise the processes for full-scale mass production.
Considering the past examples of Apple’s entry-level model strategy, the release of the iPhone 17e does not guarantee that a new model will be released every year. Because the company can remove some models from the product range according to sales performance.
Previously, the iPhone mini series was terminated due to insufficient sales. Similarly, the iPhone Plus model is expected to be removed next year. Nevertheless, current developments reveal that Apple is trying to standardise the ‘e’ series.
