New design images of the iPhone Air 2, expected to be the successor to the ultra-thin Air model that Apple added to the iPhone 17 series, introduced in 2025, have leaked. Apple is continuing the Air series after the first model and introducing significant camera improvements in the second generation.
iPhone Air 2 design revealed
Despite the Air model, which was released alongside the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro last year, falling short of sales expectations, the company has decided to continue the series.

According to information shared by reliable industry source Digital Chat Station, this new model, currently known as the iPhone Air 2 and currently underdeveloped, is receiving a major upgrade to its camera hardware along with minor design tweaks.
The horizontal camera bar design used in the first iPhone Air model is retained in the new generation, but the most significant change is the switch to a dual rear camera system.
While the original Air model featured a single 48MP camera, leaked information suggests the new setup consists of a 48MP main camera and a 48MP ultra-wide-angle sensor.
This dual-camera system directly enhances the device’s photography capabilities. The front of the device features a 6.5-inch high-refresh-rate display and advanced 3D facial recognition.
The series’ signature ultralight and thin form factor will remain the same on the Air 2. While details are still unconfirmed, the device is expected to be powered by Apple’s A20 Pro processor.
The iPhone Air 2 is expected to be introduced as part of the 2026 smartphone lineup, alongside the iPhone 18 Pro, 18 Pro Max, and Apple’s first foldable iPhone. The other standard models, the iPhone 18 and 18e, will be released in early 2027.
