Leaked CAD drawings and technical data regarding Apple’s first foldable smartphone indicate that the company will take a significantly different approach than its competitors in this new segment. Developed under the codename “V68” and expected to be unveiled in September 2026, the device stands out from other foldable models on the market with its shorter and wider body structure.
iPhone Fold Revealed
With a width of 83.8 mm and a height of 120.6 mm when folded, this design exhibits a more compact form compared to current iPhone models. This is considered part of Apple’s strategy to facilitate one-handed use and offer a more ergonomic experience even when the device is closed.

Looking at the screen specifications, while the outer panel is approximately 5.3 inches, the inner screen, which will be the real difference, is said to reach 7.76 inches. These dimensions prove that when the device is opened, it takes on almost the form of an iPad mini and offers a small tablet experience with a 4:3 aspect ratio.
Specifically, the inner screen is expected to have a high resolution of 2,713 x 1,920 pixels and provide a seamless viewing area thanks to under-display camera technology. Leaked information also suggests that Apple is working with giants like Corning and Schott for screen sourcing, using a special glass blend aimed at completely eliminating the crease.
In terms of hardware and thickness, Apple appears to have pushed the boundaries of engineering, managing to reduce the device’s thickness to just 4.8 mm when open, excluding the camera bump. This thinness represents an even more elegant design than the iPhone Air model the company is preparing to release.
In terms of technical specifications, it is predicted that the dual 48 MP rear camera setup familiar from the iPhone 17 series will be retained, and for biometric security, instead of Face ID, a Touch ID sensor integrated into the side button will be preferred to maintain the device’s thinness.
All these details indicate that Apple is preparing to enter the foldable phone market not just with a new screen technology, but with a completely redesigned form factor.
