Apple topped smartphone sales in the first quarter of 2025. According to data from Counterpoint Research, the company became the leader in the global market for the first time in the first quarter of the year. This success was driven by the launch of the iPhone 16e model at an unusual time.

Apple achieved remarkable momentum in non-core regions such as India, Japan, the Middle East and Africa. The increase in these regions offset stagnant or declining sales in core markets, boosting the company’s overall performance.

Samsung ranked second behind Apple with 18 per cent market share in the first quarter of the year. The company, which started the quarter weakly due to the late release of the S25 series, significantly increased its sales in March. In this increase, especially the demand for the S25 Ultra model attracted attention.
Xiaomi increased its market share by strengthening its premium brand perception in China and opening up to new markets. With its entry into the electric vehicle sector, it further strengthened its brand perception in the local market. The company achieved significant growth while maintaining its place in the top five.
The fastest rising brand in the top five was vivo. In addition to its strong presence in China, it ranked fourth with its strategies for emerging markets. OPPO ranked fifth with its performance in India, Latin America and Europe.
