Developed by Firewalk Studios and published by Sony on August 20, Concord has earned a spot among the most unsuccessful titles in gaming history. The game saw such low demand that Sony made the rare move of removing it from sale on September 6 and shutting down its servers. In fact, those who purchased the game were even issued refunds.

Rumors of Concord’s Return

It was apparent for a long time that Concord would struggle. Unlike its free-to-play competitors like Apex Legends, Valorant, and Destiny 2, Concord launched with a price tag of $39.99, adopting a live-service model.

Entering an already competitive market with powerful, free-to-play rivals was a risky move for Concord. The game sold only 25,000 copies in its first week and peaked at just 700 players on Steam, clearly indicating its failure.

Sony’s PlayStation division, which has been facing significant controversy recently, has been hit with yet another blow. Reports suggest that Sony, which invested $400 million in Concord and removed it from sale last month, might be planning a revival of the game. While there has been no official statement, updates have been detected on the game’s Steam page.

The idea of Sony preparing for a comeback isn’t too far-fetched. Given the time and money spent on the project, it’s possible that Concord might return, if not now, then in the near future. Some have even speculated that the game could relaunch as a free-to-play title, particularly after Firewalk Studios mentioned in a past statement, “We’ve decided to explore options that will better connect with our players.”
