Google has announced an important update for Gemini Live, the AI-powered chat platform. Developed in response to OpenAI’s advanced voice assistant mode, the platform can now understand and process different languages, dialects and accents simultaneously. This means users will be able to quickly switch between languages during a single conversation, and the system will be able to understand and respond to these changes seamlessly. So what other innovations are coming?

With this update, Google will also offer screen sharing and live video streaming features to users. Innovations that were previously available within the Astra project are finally becoming accessible to all users. Meanwhile, Gemini 2.0 also introduces the Multimodal Live API for developers, which will allow AI to process text, audio and video inputs simultaneously and produce output (the images below are AI images created with Google Imagen 3).

On the privacy front, Google said that audio, video and screen sharing content will be stored in the “Gemini App Activities” section, but users will be able to manually manage and delete this data. In the privacy document published in December 2024, the company also emphasized that voice data is not currently stored on Google servers.
Finally, Gemini AI’s Imagen 3 rendering model can now produce more realistic images with human figures.
