Music By John Williams, the Steven Spielberg-produced documentary about the life and career of John Williams, the legendary composer of the Jaws and Star Wars franchises, will finally be available on Disney+ in November after a limited release.
Music By John Williams will also be the opening film of AFI Fest 2024, which will take place at TCL Chinese Theater from October 23-27. The film will come to Disney+ the following week on November 1. Another of the film’s producers is Jim Henson, also on Disney+: Idea Man documentary, also on Disney+, will be directed by Ron Howard, president of Imagine Entertainment.

John Williams has had an illustrious career, having been nominated for 52 Academy Awards and winning a total of five for Fiddler on the Roof, Jaws, Star Wars, ET and Schindler’s List.
In addition to these, John Williams has also composed some of the greatest scores for other legendary films in the world of cinema, including Superman, Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park and many more.
AFI President and CEO Bob Gazzale said the following about this work: “John Williams is an American icon with a true and timeless global impact. You could say we are overjoyed at the opportunity to host the world premiere of the film. But it wouldn’t be the same without the music of ET the Extra-Terrestrial.”
The Music By John Williams documentary, which will be released on Disney+ on November 1, features Steven Spielberg, Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall, Kate Capshaw, Gustavo Dudamel, JJ Abrams, Chris Martin, Ron Howard, Chris Columbus, George Lucas, Itzhak Perlman, Lawrence Kasdan, Yo-Yo Ma, Ke, Huy Quan, James Mangold, Alan Silvestri, David Newman, Thomas Newman, Seth MacFarlane, Anne-Sophie Mutter and Branford Marsalis were interviewed.
