Apple, one of the most important companies in the technology world, has recently been shaken by changes within its senior management team. The departure of Johny Srouji, considered one of the key architects of the company’s hardware success, has generated significant buzz in tech circles. Srouji, known as the mastermind behind M-Series chips, is reportedly looking to take a different career path.
Why did Johny Srouji’s departure come to the fore?
According to information shared by Bloomberg, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Hardware Technologies, Johny Srouji, is planning to leave the company. Srouji reportedly shared this idea with CEO Tim Cook and stated that he would rather continue his career at another company than retire. While a decision hasn’t been finalized yet, Apple management is reportedly working diligently to retain a key figure like Srouji.

Unfortunately, this isn’t the only potential loss within the company. Cheng Chen, a senior executive responsible for optics in Apple’s Vision Pro and display technologies division, has reportedly transferred to OpenAI’s hardware team. These developments indicate that the company may be experiencing significant bleeding in its hardware department.
The winds of change at Apple aren’t limited to the hardware team. Significant departures are also expected within the company’s legal and policy departments. It has been announced that Kate Adams, who has served as general counsel since 2017, will retire next year. Lisa Jackson, who heads Environment, Policy, and Social Initiatives, is also set to leave her position at the beginning of 2026.
Similar activity is taking place on the design side. Alan Dye, who has led interface design for many years, will leave the company on December 31st and move to Meta. Dye will head Meta’s newly established custom design studio, where he will oversee software and hardware interfaces. Experienced designer Steve Lemay will replace him at Apple.
John Giannandrea, who previously headed the artificial intelligence unit, has retired and been replaced by Amar Subramanya, a Google veteran. All these changes raise questions about Apple’s strategy in the coming period.
