Kirin 9000s in the Mate 60 series passed 14nm! Here’s why

Huawei wants to catch a break with its Kirin 9000s series in the processor seat. New details about the chipset are surprising.

Huawei is making a remarkable comeback in the smartphone world. The company, which continues its production under the embargoes imposed by the US, used the Kirin 60s processor produced by SMIC, which it works with at the heart of the Huawei Mate 9000 series. An interesting detail about the processor, which is a subject of curiosity, has emerged.

Kirin 9000s went through special 14nm production with 7nm performance

The processor, which we first saw in the Huawei Mate 60 Pro, has impressed with its performance so far. SMIC, which has previously lagged behind processor manufacturers such as TSMC, wants to make a leap with this series and take itself to the next level.

When we look at the specifications, we see that SMIC used 7nm technology to produce the processor. However, the reports do not say this. According to Minatake Mitchell Kashio, CEO of research firm Fomalhaut Techno Solutions, the processor went through the 14nm process. But it was subjected to a special process that makes it behave like 7nm.

When we look at the smartphone world today, 14nm production is a very old technology. However, according to the information reported, there is a reason for this. With this production plan, Huawei will break the embargo rules imposed by the US. It seems that the technological tension between the US and China will continue to increase.
