The mobile card game Marvel Snap is returning to app stores, starting with the Google Play Store. The embargo for the popular game, which has been banned in the US for a while, is coming to an end. The wait for the game, which was banned along with TikTok, but continued to be banned despite TikTok’s ban being lifted days ago, is now coming to an end. Here are the details
Marvel Snap is coming back to the App Store and Play Store in the US
Developer Second Dinner announced that it will begin the process of restoring the game to the Android app store on Sunday morning. In an additional post, the company said it expects the game to be available in Apple stores next week.
Marvel Snap’s return follows the outage caused by last weekend’s outage on TikTok, as its original publisher Nuverse is owned by TikTok’s parent company ByteDance. The ban, which has been in place for nearly a week, is now expected to end hours from now.
The popular game actually came back online for players on Monday. Second Dinner announced plans to bring more services in-house and partner with a new publisher. Currently the game is still provided, operated and managed by Nuverse, as stated in the website privacy policy.
Other apps that faced problems during the same period, such as CapCut and Lemon8, are now online but not yet available in the iOS and Android app stores. While US President Donald Trump has instructed the Attorney General’s office not to enforce the TikTok ban, it is unclear whether it will protect Apple or Google from legal liability if they host apps that violate the law.
Finally, the company announced some surprises for players affected by the ban. An administrator of Marvel Snap’s Discord server announced gift packages for players affected by the outage, including in-game credits, tokens, and special variants for accounts created in the United States or with activity in the country 30 days ago.
