    Mazda unveils its new EV for cheaper than $20,000!

    Mazda introduced its new electric sedan model EZ-6. With the model developed specifically for the Chinese market, Mazda has expanded its electric vehicle range. It also launched its first model using Changan Automobile’s hybrid platform.

    The EZ-6 is offered with two different powertrain options, fully electric (BEV) and hybrid (EREV). The model is available in seven trim levels, with prices ranging from around $19,000 to $25,000.

    In terms of design, it reflects Mazda’s Kodo design language with features such as split headlights and LED lighting. With a length of about 4.9 meters and a wheelbase of almost 2.9 meters, the vehicle offers more interior volume compared to Mazda’s previous new energy vehicle models.

    The subscription system is becoming widespread in Mazda cars. Accordingly, the company has made some of its features paid.

    Interior highlights include a 14.6-inch infotainment screen, digital instrument cluster and a 50-inch head-up display with augmented reality. Powered by a Qualcomm chip, it supports various connectivity features. There’s also a Sony audio system, reclining front seats and a panoramic sunroof.

    The EZ-6 BEV version offers a range of 480 km and 600 km with a 190 kW rear engine and 56.1 or 68.8 kWh battery options, respectively. In the EREV model, a 1.5-liter gasoline engine and a 160 kW electric motor combine to provide a range of up to 1301 km. Both versions can be charged from 30 percent to 80 percent in 15-20 minutes.

    With the new EZ-6, equipped with advanced driving support systems at the L2.5 level, Mazda aims to expand its China-focused electric vehicle portfolio. It is unclear whether the vehicle will come to the global market.
