Following its single-screen Ray-Ban Display glasses, Meta is now working on more advanced smart glasses with dual screens. This move is another step toward the company’s goal of making smart glasses a part of everyday life.
Meta is coming with dual-screen smart glasses
According to editor Mark Gurman, Meta’s next-generation smart glasses will feature displays in both lenses. While these glasses don’t offer a full augmented reality (AR) experience, they do add AR elements to everyday life. This allows users to see messages, directions, or calendar notifications on their glasses without looking at their phones.

Meta is making rapid progress in this area. In 2021, the company launched its first smart glasses, in collaboration with Ray-Ban, that allow for hands-free photo and video shooting. In 2023, it introduced a second-generation model with a better camera, sound system, and voice assistant features.
In 2025, it released the Ray-Ban Display model, which offers features such as notifications, maps, WhatsApp messaging, and live translation on an integrated screen.
Having a screen on both lenses allows information to be displayed simultaneously on both sides. This feature transforms glasses from a mere accessory into a functional tool. This allows users to become accustomed to using them as a display.
Meta isn’t alone in the wearable display category. Apple entered the market with the Vision Pro, and Samsung is developing its own model. However, Apple’s slow progress in this area has so far led Meta to become the industry leader.
