Meta Quest is rolling out successive software updates to stay ahead of Apple Vision Pro, which offers much stronger hardware features.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the release of version 67 of the Horizon OS operating system for the Quest virtual reality headset. This update introduces a user interface that supports multitasking with up to six windows, allowing users to work with three fixed virtual windows while freely using the other three.
Meta Quest Vs. Apple Vision Pro: Zuckerberg continues to innovate
According to Zuckerberg’s announcement, the most notable feature of the update is the ability for users to work with up to six virtual windows…
This feature allows users to pin three different windows in the virtual reality world while freely using the other three. The good news is that Meta has not limited this update to just its latest model. This feature will be available on Quest Pro, Quest 2, and Quest 3 models.
Especially when used in augmented reality (AR + VR) mode on Quest 3, this new feature will provide augmented reality support similar to the experience of Apple Vision Pro.
Additionally, a new feature called ‘Theater Mode’ will allow users to quickly isolate and darken any window while using Meta Quest. This will enhance the experience of watching videos on platforms like YouTube, creating a cinema-like atmosphere.
