Apple Intelligence technology, which Apple introduced at the WWDC 2025 event, was made available to users, albeit limited, with the iOS 18.1 update. However, the company also offered developers the option to disable these features. Meta was one of the companies that used this option.
Meta blocked Apple Intelligence features
Apple Intelligence writing tools are not active in Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger and Threads applications. When users tap any text field in these applications, AI-supported options do not appear. Likewise, it is not possible to share Genmoji created with Apple Intelligence through Meta applications.

Meta did not make any public statement about this decision. However, it is known that the company prioritises its own artificial intelligence system, Meta AI. This system offers tools that allow users to write text, edit text and create visual content.
Since Meta includes these tools in its ecosystem, we can say that it closes the door to similar technologies offered by Apple. The extent to which Apple Intelligence will become widespread and how other major platforms will approach this technology will become clear in the coming period.
On the Apple side, Apple Intelligence, which works integrated throughout the system, can also be actively involved in third-party applications. However, developers can block these features in line with their own preferences.
Meta’s move was one of the first examples that directly affected the artificial intelligence competition within the iOS ecosystem. So what do you think about this issue? You can share your opinions with us in the comments section below.
