Meta announced a groundbreaking update for their Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses on Monday, May 2, integrating popular apps like Calm, Amazon Music, and Instagram Stories. Powered by Meta’s Llama 3 AI model, these glasses offer users a hands-free experience, eliminating the need to reach for their phones.
Just last month, the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses introduced multimodal AI capabilities, allowing users in the U.S. and Canada to utilize vocal commands, share views on video calls, and control Apple Music hands-free. The latest update builds on this by adding Calm for guided meditation, Amazon Music for streaming, and the ability to post Instagram stories through voice commands.
Meta has partnered with Calm to provide users with hands-free access to meditation and mindfulness exercises. Simply saying, “Hey Meta, play the Daily Calm,” will launch the app. For music lovers, saying, “Hey Meta, play Amazon Music,” will start a recommended playlist, all without touching their phones.
In the realm of social media, users can now post Instagram stories by voice command, making it easier than ever to share moments on the go. This update allows users to say, “Hey Meta, share my last photo on Instagram,” or “Hey Meta, post a photo to Instagram,” to instantly capture and share images.
The new update is rolling out gradually, with availability across different countries yet to be confirmed. Meta is also launching three new styles of their smart glasses, available for pre-order in 15 countries starting at $369.99.
