Meta has added a real-time translation feature to smart glasses developed in collaboration with Ray-Ban. This feature, which was previously tested by only a limited number of users, became more widely available as of April 24, 2025.
Meta’s smart glasses gain live translation feature
The live translation feature was introduced at Meta’s Connect event in 2024 and was made available in some countries in December. Thanks to the feature, users can receive real-time voice translation between English, French, Italian and Spanish.

While the translation is transmitted directly through the glasses during the conversation, the responses can be viewed on the connected smartphone screen. However, in order to benefit from the translation feature, the relevant language packs must be downloaded to the device in advance.
The developed system allows users to communicate directly and instantly with individuals in different languages. While the glasses instantly detect and translate speech during translation, users’ responses and interaction with the content are managed from the phone screen paired with the glasses.
Meta also provided information about the functions that will be offered in the future with this new feature. With the Live AI feature planned to be launched in the near future, everything users see will be transferred to the artificial intelligence system thanks to the glasses’ built-in camera.
In addition, the messaging and calling capabilities of Ray-Ban Meta glasses are expanding. Direct messages, photo sending, voice and video calls can be made via the Instagram application via the glasses.
The price of the glasses starts at $299. So what do you think about this device? You can share your opinions with us in the comments section below.
