Microsoft is looking to reclaim the throne of the best and fastest browser it once held for years. Like its closest rival Chrome, Edge is based on the open-source Chromium, making it one of the fastest browsers. But Microsoft has increased this speed even further with the Edge 132 update.
Microsoft Edge is 40 percent faster with the 132 update
Edge, the world’s third most used browser, is looking to get ahead of its competitors with the 132 update. The WebUI 2.0 interface, which first appeared with the Edge 122 update, started to replace the existing React interface.
In fact, here lies the simplification of the browser’s operations in the background of the interface rather than an interface. In this sense, Microsoft has simplified the code with WebUI 2.0. In particular, Microsoft reduced the size of the code packages. In this sense, the company has also minimized the amount of code shared unnecessarily. In its statement, Microsoft announced that with the new update, they minimized the Javascript codes that put a burden on the browser.
According to the preliminary results, the new update speeds up Edge by an average of 40 percent compared to the old one. Microsoft informed that the browser’s download interface has accelerated by 50 percent.
Microsoft also announced that with the Edge 132 update, 14 different points were replaced with WebUI 2.0 instead of React. Such a high speed difference between browser versions is also due to this change. However, Microsoft has not yet moved the entire browser to the WebUI 2.0 interface.
In this sense, the browser is expected to become much faster with new Edge updates. Although Microsoft is working hard for Edge, it currently has only 5 percent of the market. The most used browser is Chrome by far with 65 percent. Apple’s own pre-installed browser Safari comes in second with almost 18 percent.
Microsoft is making this update for the Edge browser so that computers with low processing power and limited SSD capacity can run the browser quickly. It is a known fact that the Chrome browser consumes a lot of processing power and RAM, especially on low systems. Edge is trying to get rid of this disadvantage that comes from the Chromium base.
Do you think Edge, which has increased its speed with the Edge 132 update and subsequent updates, can compete more with its competitors? We are waiting for your comments and opinions.
