Microsoft is referencing Apple’s MacBook Air in its latest commercial. In this commercial, the company claims that Surface Pro and Surface Laptop models with Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite processors are up to 58% faster than Apple’s MacBook Air with M3 chip. This comparison is based on Cinebench 2024 multi-core CPU test results.
Microsoft targets Apple in its latest commercial
The newly introduced Copilot+ PC series is at the center of Microsoft’s vision of Windows with AI support. While the performance of these devices is also highlighted in the commercial, it is striking that it is directly compared to the MacBook Air. However, an older generation MacBook Air model with M3 chip is used in the commercial.
According to the information given in the video; some Copilot+ PCs are superior not only to M3 but also to new MacBook Air models with M4 chip. On the other hand, Apple claims that the M4 chip family makes a difference with the performance it offers per watt.
The new Surface devices with Snapdragon X Elite processors featured in Microsoft’s commercial are particularly notable for their AI-supported features. The picture that emerged in the Cinebench test shows that the Windows ecosystem is ready to compete directly with Apple.
However, the fact that the comparison was made with the M3 processor model instead of the current M4 raised big questions about the impartiality of the advertisement.
