The MSI Claw A8, powered by AMD’s Ryzen Z2 Extreme chip, is officially making its way to the US at least according to a new Newegg listing. After months of global availability but no local presence, the handheld has finally appeared stateside. And the kicker? It’s cheaper than Lenovo’s competing Legion Go 2.
MSI Claw A8 brings Ryzen Z2 Extreme at a better price

The Newegg listing shows the Claw A8 at $1,149 for the 1 TB model. That’s a full $200 less than the $1,349.99 asking price for the Legion Go 2 with the same processor and storage. Lenovo does include 32 GB of RAM versus MSI’s 24 GB, but for many buyers, that extra memory might not justify the higher cost.
So while the Legion Go 2 might edge it on specs, the Claw A8 takes the win in value at least on paper.
Key MSI Claw A8 specs match global model
Although the listing doesn’t confirm a release date, the listed hardware aligns with the model already available in other regions:
- AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor
- 8-inch 120Hz VRR display
- 80 Wh battery
- 1 TB M.2 2280 SSD (Samsung 9100)
- WiFi 7 support
These features put it squarely in the premium tier, far above the last-gen handhelds still floating around. The large battery and VRR-enabled screen alone mark a big step up.
US launch could shake up handheld competition
MSI’s handheld isn’t arriving quietly. By pricing the Claw A8 below a key rival, the company is clearly aiming to draw attention from gamers who’ve been eyeing high-end options like the ROG Ally X or Legion Go 2. And even if the Claw A8 doesn’t come out on top in raw specs, its combination of performance, battery life, and lower price makes it a real contender.
Still waiting on an official launch announcement, but the signs are clear MSI is finally bringing its A-game to the US handheld market.
