NASA’s hero spacecraft Parker Solar Probe had previously come close enough to touch the Sun. It made its name written in golden letters in history as the first spacecraft to get this close to the Sun. As if that wasn’t enough, he survived the solar storms and became a hero. But this spacecraft did not have enough records. He broke a new record. Here are the details…
Parker Solar Probe broke the record for the fastest man-made spacecraft!
NASA’s Parker Solar Probe spacecraft has broken the record for the fastest object ever created by humanity. It would be more accurate to say that it refreshed. Because this solar probe also held the previous record. It set its new record at 635,266 kilometers (394,736 miles) per hour during the probe’s final approach to the Sun.
The previous record reached by the probe was 586,863.4 kilometers (346,600 miles) per hour. Parker Solar Probe broke this record just three years ago. Let’s clarify a little so we understand how fast this is: An airplane traveling at these speeds could circle our planet 15 times in an hour. It sounds terrible. Parker can’t get enough of records.
Parker Solar Probe is currently in its 17th cycle. It plans to make seven more orbits before spiraling towards the Sun’s surface. Thus, not only did it break the record for the fastest object ever created by humankind. It also managed to break the record for the closest distance to the Sun, with only 7.26 million kilometers. This made it history as the spacecraft that could come closest to the Sun, the source of life of our planet.
This probe brought us information that will shed light on research about the Sun. This probe will orbit the Sun 24 times. Then it will hit the Sun and melt. History will remember this heroic spacecraft as the fastest spacecraft to touch the Sun.
