An important meeting took place as part of the IISS Prague Defense Summit. President of the Defense Industries (IISS) met with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte to discuss Turkey’s potential and capabilities in the defense industry.
In a statement regarding the meeting, Görgün stated that they discussed Turkey’s high potential in the defense industry, the agile structure of the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB), and its strong coordination capabilities.
Emphasis on Contribution to NATO’s Deterrent
Prof. Dr. Görgün stated that NATO Secretary General Rutte once again praised the Turkish defense industry and particularly emphasized the contribution of this strong ecosystem to NATO’s deterrent. Görgün said, “With over 3,500 companies and over 100,000 employees, from prime contractors to subcontractors, the Turkish Defense Industry is a strong ecosystem that adds value to international collaborations.”

He added that Turkey will not only fulfill its responsibilities within NATO but will also continue to contribute to the future of the alliance with the domestic and national capabilities it has developed.
President Görgün also announced that Turkey will share its contributions to Europe’s common defense vision in the changing security environment at a panel titled “The Future Face of the European Defense Industry,” to be held this afternoon as part of the summit.
