A teaser posted on X shows what appears to be the next-gen indoor Nest Cam. At first glance, it looks familiar, but the camera sensor area reveals a clear design change. Based on earlier leaks, the new model is expected to support 2K video resolution, which would be a noticeable step up from the current 1080p limit.

Other Nest products may be joining the update, including:

    • A refreshed outdoor camera
    • An updated Nest Doorbell
    • A possible new Nest speaker was teased during the Pixel 10 event

If all goes as predicted, this will mark the biggest Nest hardware update in years.

Alongside the camera news, Google confirmed that Gemini, its AI assistant model, is coming to the Home ecosystem. A tweet from the official Google account simply says: “Come back October 1st.” It links to a Google Store signup page for hardware updates.

Earlier hints suggest Gemini’s role in Google Home could include:

    • Smarter, context-aware routines
    • Better voice control for smart devices
    • Integration with the rumored new Nest speaker

Between AI upgrades and long-overdue Nest camera improvements, Google’s October 1 announcement could be more than just routine refreshes. It might finally signal a real reinvestment in its Home ecosystem, one that’s needed a boost for a while.
