Netflix, one of the world’s most popular digital streaming platforms, experienced technical difficulties with the release of the highly anticipated final season of Stranger Things. Thousands of users experienced access issues as soon as the first four episodes of Stranger Things season 5 aired. The simultaneous download of millions of viewers caused a temporary server crash.
Stranger Things final season crashes Netflix: Has the access issue been resolved?
Reports of the issue peaked around 8:00 PM Eastern Time, the same time the episodes aired. According to Downdetector data, the number of complaints, which began just 10 minutes before the broadcast, rapidly increased, approaching 14,000. Users reported seeing error messages such as “Something went wrong” and “We’re having trouble with your request.”

The most common error code during the outage was recorded as NSEZ-403. This code appears when accounts are unable to connect to Netflix servers. Netflix is specifically advising users experiencing the NSEZ-403 error to switch to a different device as a workaround. The most striking aspect of the incident was a previous statement from the show’s creators that bandwidth had been increased by 30 percent to prevent crashes.
Tech giant Netflix released an official statement to Engadget regarding the issue. The company confirmed that some members experienced a brief issue, particularly when streaming on television. However, it was reported that the service returned to normal for all accounts within five minutes after the intervention of technical teams.
In the fifth season of Stranger Things, the Hawkins team returns for a final confrontation with Vecna. Following the release of the first four episodes, Netflix will release three more on December 25th. The series’ grand finale will air on December 31st.
