When it comes to TV shows and movies, Netflix is one of the first digital streaming providers that comes to mind, with millions of subscribers in many countries, including Turkey. Based on this, it’s safe to say that the platform is quite popular. Recently, Netflix also revealed this in its fourth-quarter report for 2024.
Netflix gained millions of new subscribers
According to Netflix’s fourth-quarter report, the platform gained 19 million new subscribers, reaching its highest-ever quarterly growth. The company referred to this extraordinary increase as “the highest subscriber gain of all time.”

According to an analysis by Bloomberg, the company was expected to gain 9.18 million subscribers. This means that Netflix exceeded expectations. So, how much did Netflix earn in the three-month period?
The company earned $10.2 billion, which is also above expectations. In fact, it’s not too surprising that Netflix set a record, as the company took steps last year to prevent password sharing among its subscribers, forcing those using shared accounts to purchase their own subscriptions.
In recent weeks, Disney announced that its digital streaming platforms (Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+) had 157 million active users per month in the last six months. This poses serious competition for Netflix.
