The US Department of Commerce said new regulations for Huawei are on the way. Accordingly, American chip manufacturers such as Intel and Qualcomm are completely banned from selling products to Huawei. It canceled the export licenses of non-5G chips provided with some special permits.
US companies will not be able to sell technology to Huawei
The Commerce Ministry said in a statement that it had revoked certain licenses granted to Huawei for exports. However, it did not provide details on which licenses were revoked. The move comes after Huawei launched its new MateBook X with Intel processors.
The US has imposed restrictions since 2019, alleging that the company has ties to the Chinese government. Citing national security concerns, it is restricting access to American technology. These technologies include many products such as 5G-enabled chipsets, modem chips and Google services.
Apple introduced the new iPad Pro, iPad Air, Apple Pencil Pro and Magic Keyboard products at the Let Loose event.
Large American companies such as Intel and Qualcomm had obtained licenses to supply some products that did not support 5G technology. However, these would have to be renewed periodically. The Department of Commerce did not renew the licenses and stopped all sales to Huawei.
Huawei has not yet responded to this pressure. However, it is possible that the company, which has suffered great damage after the US blacklisting, will have even more difficulties. From now on, it can only use processors developed with its Chinese partner SMIC or MediaTek processors.
The Chinese government has accused the US of “economic bullying”. It said the moves against Chinese technology companies were unacceptable.
