Confusing reports surrounding Samsung’s highly anticipated flagship series, the Galaxy S26, have begun to clear up with recent leaks. Initially, it was claimed that the standard model would be renamed the “Galaxy S26 Pro” and that the S26 Edge would be introduced, but new information suggests Samsung is returning to its traditional naming scheme.
A Name Change and a Big Battery Are We Incoming?
According to multiple reliable sources, it appears that Samsung has completely shelved the “Edge” series and will not be changing its name this year. Sources close to SamMobile have confirmed that the series will launch with the classic trio of Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26 Plus, and Galaxy S26 Ultra. This means that the previously circulating “Galaxy S26 Pro” leaks likely refer to the standard S26 model.

The Galaxy S26 Edge, rumored to be largely complete, has been removed from the series for now but could be released as a standalone model in the future. The most notable hardware upgrade is the battery. The new Galaxy S26 is rumored to feature a 4,300mAh battery cell, a boost in capacity from the 4,000mAh battery in the previous S25. Despite this capacity increase, Samsung is said to have achieved an impressive engineering feat by slimming the phone from 7.2mm to 6.96mm.
Leaked renders reveal a revamped rear camera module. The formerly split-ring camera array will now feature three lenses housed within a single, pill-shaped island.
According to hints revealed in the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s One UI 8.5 software, Samsung is expected to keep the S26’s camera setup largely the same as the S25 series. This means the 50MP main camera, a 10MP telephoto lens, and a 12MP ultra-wide camera will be repurposed.
Another significant change will come on the processor front. Samsung, which relied entirely on Snapdragon chips in the Galaxy S25 series, will reportedly switch back to its own Exynos chipset in some markets for the Galaxy S26 and S26 Plus. This strategy is being interpreted as Samsung’s effort to rebalance its global chip supply.
